Fiona is a certified Institute of Functional Medicine Practitioner (IFMCP). Combining nutritional therapy with lifestyle coaching Fiona has successfully helped many clients, that are struggling to change their nutrition and lifestyle habits, in achieving their desired wellness goals.
Functional Medicine delves into the “why” people have chronic health problems and aims to get to the root cause of ill health. To compliment this approach, coaching tackles the “how” to achieving our desired health goals. Since relocating to Dubai in 2017, Fiona continues to help clients adapt their lifestyles and is the first in the UAE to achieve certification with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
I have always had an interest in food and nutrition as well as health and wellbeing. I first studied a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Home Economics from Manchester University which gave me an in-depth insight into various aspects of food from nutrition and food technology to food preparation, presentation and food photography.
I then met my Dutch/Swiss husband and followed him and his career around Europe whilst having a family and picking up languages too! (Dutch, German and some French and Spanish). During this period, I qualified to be a personal trainer. In the late 1990’s I moved with my young family to Dubai and worked part time as a personal trainer. This work inspired me to further develop my knowledge in Nutrition and upon returning to the UK in 2000, I embarked on my second Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Nutritional Therapy at Westminster University.
Developing my own Nutritional Therapy practice, I became particularly interested in sport performance and weight management. In 2008 I went back to University to study for a Masters degree in Sports Nutrition graduating in 2008 from London Metropolitan University. In 2013 I pursued life coaching through Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which inspired me to become a certified Master Practitioner in NLP.
Since moving back to Dubai in 2017 my personal fitness activities have switched from riding dressage horses in the UK countryside to cycling the Al Qudra track most weekends. I also practice strength and conditioning with cardiovascular work outs, in and out of water, whilst regularly practicing yoga to bring me back down to earth!
